I want the viewer to find the garden, see the movement and revel in the color that one finds in a beautiful garden.

Tim Hovde was born in North Dakota and moved to Arizona in 1992. Influenced by his father who was a professional photographer, he grew up immersed in the world of art, music and photography. A self-taught artist, Tim believes the "art" of painting is highly instinctual.
Most of Tim’s paintings come from the places to which he has traveled; the images that end up on his canvases are often from the places that inspire him. An afternoon spent walking through the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris inspired the Dans le jardin series. He pulled apart the gardens that he visited and painted with a heavy oil texture to show the movement of the flowers on a breezy day, along with the background of vines and leaves, eventually exposing the garden for what it is - nature.
Tim's work is shown in galleries and museums around the United States and is in private collections in the US and Europe.
Experiencing Tim Hovde’s paintings is like diving into into a pool of pure color. Monumental in size, the viewers are enveloped by the textures and hues of his extraordinary pieces and find themselves immersed in a garden like no other. Tim uniquely translates his reality into paintings that are visually appealing as abstractions, yet remain true to the essence of his subject.
