From a very young age, Lisa Mishler has been involved in the act of creating. Born in Washington D.C., Lisa moved to Arizona with her family when she was eleven years old. She went on to study liberal and fine arts at the University of Arizona. For the last twelve years, she has worked with well known watercolorist Ellen Fountain and abstract artist Josh Goldberg.
Often approaching her canvas with an empty mind, Lisa takes a zen-like approach to her work. Other times, she journals her ideas in a free flow of consciousness, making a stroke spontaneously, while letting the painting speak to her.
Lisa is an active member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild and teaches abstract painting at The Drawing Studio in Tucson, Arizona. In addition, her work is displayed and kept in the archive collection of the Tucson Historical Society.
Lisa Mishler's abstract paintings are flowing and fluid, denoting an energetic component that is playfully expressive. Her color palettes range from bright and bold to more subdued and neutral. Regardless, there is an inherent luminosity to all of her paintings which adds depth and brings them to life.
