Bio
Corinne Carbone knew she wanted to be an artist in kindergarten after her initial taste of fingerpainting. Her first "show" was at age eight on her parent’s patio. Tickets were ten cents. It won critical reviews. Her unique take on the landscape around her was apparent even then.
Though she has a degree in nutrition, art has always been the creative thread in Corinne’s life. She studied Art History at the University of Milan, played with clay while her children were young, and since moving to Maine seven years ago has had the opportunity to study and create art with some wonderful artists.
A strong use of line and color is the common thread in her work, be it interpretive landscapes or her figurative work of African culture. Corinne’s paintings evolve in several ways. Her landscapes can result from a view, a hike after a rain or a boat ride to an outer island. She works from sketches and notes on the day, where she’ll reference the color palette she envisions, the quality of light, the wind. Figurative work is mined from her subconscious and her African work continues to be inspired by a trip to Uganda several years ago.
